“Hold your head high! Let the whole world know that you are proud to be an Indian!”
Saluting the nation and remembering its remarkable journey on its 75th Independence Day, the students and staff of Salwan Junior School observed Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with great enthusiasm on Friday, August 12, 2022. Students presented a mélange of patriotic activities which created an atmosphere of national pride in the school premises.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of Tricolour by the distinguished guest for the day – Shri Sameer Sharma, IRS, Income Tax Commissioner, presently Commissioner International Taxation followed by the National Anthem. The Chief Guest along with honourable Director Sir and Ma’am Mathur planted Chandan Trees, encouraging the students to spread the cool fragrance with their good deeds and always practicing the school motto of Service Before Self. Mathur Ma’am welcomed the guests and in her address, apprised the students about the great achievements and the difficult path that the countrymen walked through to be successful.
The school choir – Swaranjali presented a soulful rendition of the patriotic song – Hind Desh ke Niwasi Sbhi Jan Ek Hain including a medley of folk songs in varied languages exemplifying Unity and Diversity. Everyone was left awestruck by the sports display carried out by the young yogis and scintillating skaters. The audience, especially the honourable guest, cheered them up for their breath – taking moves. A student from Class V in her impressive speech, mentioned about the great sacrifices and hard work done by the valiant freedom fighters, brave soldiers and countrymen who have helped India emerge as a successful nation on the global platform.
The esteemed guest was touched by the dance depiction by the students on Rabindranath Tagore’s poem – Into that heaven on freedom my father let my country awake and the little Salwanians’ captivating dance performance on the song praying for nation’s prosperity. Chief Guest Sh. Sameer Sharma advised the students to keep themselves healthy and fit and make the country proud in every field. He motivated the students to play outdoors, dream big and take India to greater heights. Students wore self – made tricolor badges. The school environs reverberated with patriotic fervor when the students along with the school choir culminated the programme with the patriotic song – Saare Jahan Se Achcha. The colourful celebration filled with patriotism and love for the country was rejoiced by all.
